UA-PTC English Discipline Mission Statement

The mission of the English discipline is to encourage the success of its students by promoting critical and creative thought; effective argumentation with a focus on tone, purpose, and audience; academic integrity; collaborative study and writing; written communication on a collegiate level; exposure to various cultures and subcultures; and an understanding of culture’s influence on individuals and their work.

As a result of our commitment to these objectives, the department offers a number of courses, which include the gateway courses Composition I and II, as well as a variety of literature and creative writing classes from which to choose.
