UA-PTC Surgical Technology Program Mission Statement

The Surgical Technology program is committed to the skills, behavior, and knowledge of individuals to provide them with the necessary skills to fulfill their roles as entry-level Certified Surgical Technologists. This included attributes of motivation, self-confidence, ethical behavior, professionalism, and well-trained professionals.

As a result, graduates from this program will be well equipped for a career with excellent job prospects and the necessary credentials should they wish to continue their studies.

About Our Program

The surgical technology program is a full-time program that begins each spring semester. The program consists of 2 semesters (spring/fall). The program is located at the Main UA - Pulaski Tech Campus in North Little Rock. Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology.

Successful completion of all program requirements qualifies the student to sit for the national certification exam. Successful completion of the program does not itself ensure certification. Sitting for the National Certification exam is required after completion of the program.

The program consists of 30 credits of prerequisites course work and 30 credits in the surgical technology curriculum for a total of 60 credits.

Accreditation

The Surgical Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Committee in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (www.arcstsa.org).
