UA-PTC High School Scholarships

UA-PTC awards many different High School Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 annually based on a student’s academic success in high school and college (if applicable). No separate scholarship application is necessary for students to apply for these scholarships. Students are considered for these scholarships upon completing an application for admission, which includes submitting all transcripts, shot records, and test scores. Scholarships and awards vary depending on cumulative high school GPA and admission test scores on the Accuplacer, ACT, or equivalent SAT. UA-PTC uses “Composite Scores” to award these scholarships. They are awarded two semesters simultaneously for consecutive fall and spring semesters and do not cover summer terms. Under Arkansas law, ACT 323, other financial aid received may reduce the value of the academic award. Institutional scholarships are not stackable, and students may only receive one per semester. In addition, all institutional academic scholarships are earmarked to pay UA-PTC tuition only and cannot be refunded. Any other scholarship received on behalf of a student that can only be used to pay tuition will result in the UA-PTC institutional scholarship being reduced accordingly. Students must begin attending UA-PTC full-time in August for the fall semester of the same year they graduate high school. All scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds.

Eligibility: U.S. citizens who are graduating high school.
Application Process: These scholarships are awarded once a student is fully admitted.
Renewable Criteria: Remain a full-time student with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
Maximum Award: Four semesters or completion of an associate degree.
Application Deadline: April 1

UA-PTC High School Career Leadership Scholarship

$1,500 awarded to approximately thirty-five outstanding graduating seniors each year who have actively participated in career-oriented/leadership activities while in high school.  Decisions are based on student’s financial need, high-school GPA, and active participation in career oriented high school programs, clubs, and/or outside organizations.  These programs include, but are not limited to, Skills USA, ProStart, Scouts, 4-H, FBLA, FFA, FTA, Beta Club, Key Club, etc. The award may be renewed up to four semesters if the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher and is enrolled full-time (12 or more hours) each semester.

Ben Wyatt High School Scholarship

$1,500 awarded to six high school seniors each academic year.  Students must be seeking an associate degree or technical certificate. The award may be renewed up to four semesters if the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher and is enrolled full-time (12 or more hours) each semester. This scholarship is in honor of Ben Wyatt, who served as Chancellor of University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College from 1980 to 2000. Decisions are based on an applicant’s leadership, honors, activities, community service, and financial need.

Harriet Frazer High School Scholarship

$1,500 awarded to six high school seniors each academic year.  Students must be seeking an associate degree or technical certificate. The award may be renewed up to four semesters if the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher and is enrolled full-time (12 or more hours) each semester. This scholarship is in honor of Harriet Frazer, a former University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College instructor, administrator, and advocate for education. Decisions are based on an applicant’s academic achievement, leadership abilities, special awards and honors, and extracurricular activities and financial need.

James A. Jones High School Memorial Scholarship

$1,500 awarded to six high school seniors each academic year. Students must be seeking a technical certificate or Associate of Applied Science. The award may be renewed up to four semesters if the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher and is enrolled full-time (12 or more hours) each semester. This scholarship is in honor of James A. Jones, who was the director of University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College from 1949 to 1980. Jones devoted his career to increasing vocational education opportunities in central Arkansas and shaped the mission of University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College, which was then known as Pulaski Vocational Technical School. Decisions are based on an applicant’s leadership, honors, activities, community service, and financial need.
