Personal and Academic Counseling
Each TRiO student plans for his or her academic success with an academic specialist. In a friendly and caring environment, scholars learn to identify areas in which they need to improve and use campus services to reach their academic goals. Students team with staff members to coordinate assistance from other resources on campus.
Study Skills
Study skills offered through the program help TRiO students develop learning skills in areas such as time management, organizational skills, note taking, test preparation, memorization and textbook reading.
Tutor-Mentor Program
TRiO students work with qualified tutor-mentors who provide content tutoring in writing, mathematics and computer skills, as well as support the students’ other academic, career and personal growth goals.
TRiO students are paired with a faculty tutor-mentor who helps the student become acclimated to the college environment. Mentors also assist students with navigating their academic career, addressing academic challenges, and offer guidance on balancing their home, work and school life.
Use of Computer Lab
TRiO students have access to the TRiO Student Support Services Program computer lab to do homework and improve computer skills. TRiO students use on-line financial aid applications and other computer software and can work on writing assignments, computer assignments and workshops, and access email and the internet.
Transfer Assistance
TRiO students interested in transferring to a four-year institution have the opportunity to take field trips for college exploration and receive assistance with admissions and financial aid.
Cultural and Educational Enhancement
TRiO students have the opportunity to participate in numerous educational, cultural and service activities throughout the academic year.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
After students have been a part of our TRiO program for a full semester, students may be eligible for scholarship support offered on an extremely competitive basis.
